Getting maps in Hong Kong is absolutely no problem. Tourist offices and information desks in hotels and malls will provide you with them for free.

However, those maps will usually only cover a small part of an area, e.g. the center of Stanley or the area immediately around Peak Tower. If you want to be as free as a bird as well as fully informed about public transport, we suggest that you purchase the following bilingual key to Hong Kong:

  • detailed street and area maps of the Hong Kong SAR, showing the location of all points of interest (sights, sports, leisure, hotels, etc.) though specific icons as well as all of the official and lesser known hiking trails,
  • time tables, fares and stops regarding public transport.
Additionally, it alphabetically lists with quick reference keys to the locations on the individual maps:
  • streets,
  • hotels, hostels, shopping places, restaurants, sights, leisure facilities, and hospitals,
  • the names of all of Hong Kong's buildings,
