Aberdeen

Sibylle Dussy

Like so many other spots in Hong Kong, Aberdeen started out as a fishing community. Today, it has been developed into a modern urban area featuring a fair number of high-rise buildings. Nevertheless, families of boat people still live their traditional way of life on mobile homes in the harbour.

Arriving to Aberdeen by boat is a fascinating experience. Your vessel will plow slowly through the cluttered harbour. At one point, it will blow its horn and boats of small to middle size will scatter so that the larger ship can dock.

Aberdeen is famous for its giant floating restaurants in the harbour, which provide a romantic setting to celebrate great occasions in style. Shuttles take guests from pier to restaurant and back. At night, the restaurants are wonderfully illuminated.
