Cambodia > Places & Sights > Phnom Chisor
Phnom Chisor (sometimes also written Phnom Chiso or Phnom Chissor) is a hill located in a flood plain about 60 kilometers south of Phnom Penh. On its top stands Phnom Chisor Temple, built by King Suryavarman I in the first half of the 11th century, and visitors enjoy a beautiful view over the surrounding country-side.
Phnom Chisor can be reached by following national road 2 to Takeo for about 50 kilometers to a small village and then turning into a dirt-track leading to a quarry at the foot of Phnom Chisor hill. From there, progress will be on foot.
To do this excursion safely, an experienced driver and guide who knows the local conditions and tracks is recommended.
Phnom Chisor can be combined with a visit to Tonle Bati, situated at about half distance from Phnom Penh.
