Ho Chi Minh City is one of the new Asian boomtowns and Vietnam's largest city. There is still a lot of the old Asia, but it is changing rapidly, becoming modern quite quickly.

Ho Chi Minh City is often referred to as Saigon. However, this is only part of the truth, as Ho Chi Minh City also includes other parts, like Cholon.

The sights of the two main parts of the city, Saigon and Cholon are described in the respective sections.

The following sights are located more towards the outskirts of Ho Chi Minh City.

              Note
              There are gangs of professional pickpockets, sometimes masking as aggressive street vendors. Police are helpful and know the procedures of filing a report (e.g. for the insurance). If you look around in some markets you may be able to buy back some of your stolen goods.
